Candida and its Symptoms
Candida symptoms are pervasive throughout your system: candida overgrowth is present in your small and large intestines, your stomach, and if you’re a woman, throughout your reproductive system. As the yeast grows, it even will cause you to crave the foods that feed it, making it a very difficult cycle to break. But armed with a few candida remedies, you can break the cycle and regain your health.
Treating Yeast Infections: If you have a candida yeast infection (or any yeast infection), the most effective treatment might actually already be in your refrigerator! Plain yogurt can be eaten, applied externally, or applied internally; a combination of all three will work wonders while providing immediate relief. Make sure it contains live cultures, as these are what fight the bacteria, and does not contain starch, gelatin, or sweeteners, as these will feed the yeast. Avoid costly over-the-counter yeast infection treatment products, as the bacteria will eventually become resistant and harder to kill. A good addition to your daily routine is yogurt/live bacteria pills, or supplemental acidophilus or bifudus. Tea tree oil suppositories are another effective fighter, if you can find them, and Echinacea and liquid chlorophyll can help strengthen your immune system, which will also help you ward off yeast infections.
Eradicating Mold: If you have yeast overgrowth, you also have a problem with mold. Clothes or linens should be very dry when you remove them from the dryer, and when reusing hand towels or rags, be sure that they have a lot of air circulating around them so that mold will not grow. Add borax to the wash and use very hot water whenever possible, as mold can survive the wash cycle. Also look into pillowcases designed to prevent dust mites.
Incorporating More Foods You Already Eat: Cinnamon, broccoli, cabbage, garlic, and onions are all anti-candidal so try to incorporate more of these into your diet. First thing in the morning, add two tablespoons of lemon juice plus ½ teaspoon of baking soda to a half glass of water and drink. This can help balance your pH, which will fight candida.
Candida diet/Candida cleanse: This is the most important thing you can do to eradicate yeast overgrowth. It’s difficult, but essential. For three weeks, avoid foods that feed the yeast. This includes sugar or anything sweet (artificial sweeteners are okay), yeast, non-whole grains, alcohol, anything fermented (soy sauce, vinegars), and anything containing mold (like cheese). Essentially this means your diet is temporarily restricted to meat, vegetables, seeds, nuts, whole grains, tea, and water. Think outside of the box when shopping because you’ll need to incorporate some new foods to replace the ones you can’t have. Remember that though this diet only lasts three weeks, it is important that you at least partially embrace this as a new lifestyle, because if you go right back to indulging frequently in sugars and starches, the candida will take hold again and your health will waver.
